Time for Something New...
Five years ago, nearly to the day, I received my Nikon D60. It was my first real camera.
Small, light, and durable, she has been my constant friend and companion since. I can't say I've mastered her.
I believe she has many more secrets and abilities than I've be able to wrest from her.
She has provided me with so much more than images these years. As you may know, a battle with alcoholism is never truly won.
It is a lifelong war. I've been sober for nearly ten years, and photography has has played a major part in that accomplishment.
My D60 has been my weapon, no, my tank in this war. A weapon against boredom and cravings and a shelter from
an unending bombardment of temptations.
And now, it is time for her to be promoted from MY camera to OUR camera. All four boys have shown at least some
interest in photography. The D60 will now become a teacher and guide for these budding artists.
As for me, well, I have a new friend coming to town.
